Every page load on this site records the following. None of it is provided by you deliberately — it is sent by your browser as part of an ordinary web request.
| Network | IP address, stored in full |
|---|---|
| Browser | User-agent string (browser and operating system) |
| Navigation | Referring URL, entry page, every page viewed, and the time of each view |
| Campaign | UTM parameters present on arrival (source, medium, campaign, term, content) |
| Clicks | Every click on a link or button — including links within this site and jumps to a section of the page you are already on, as well as external links, email addresses, phone numbers and file downloads. The link target, its visible label, and the page it was clicked from are recorded. |
| Cookie | A first-party cookie named _vtid holding only a random identifier. See the Cookie Notice. |
This site does not ask for or store names, emails, phone numbers or any other personal detail through analytics. If you email or use a contact form, that correspondence is separate and is handled as ordinary business email.
How far you scroll down each page and how long you are actively reading it are also recorded. Reading time counts only while the page is visible and you are interacting with it, so time spent in a background tab is not counted.
IP addresses are sent to third-party lookup services to resolve an approximate city, country, network operator and network type. The services used are ip-api.com, ipwho.is and ipinfo.io. Each has its own privacy policy governing that lookup. No other data about you is sent to them, and they receive no cookie.
Solely for the site operator's own audience measurement: understanding which pages are read, which sources send traffic, and whether marketing activity works. The data is not used for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Legal basis: consent. A banner is shown to every visitor on their first visit, regardless of location, and nothing is collected until it is accepted. This is stricter than the law requires outside the EU/EEA, and it is applied everywhere rather than only where it is mandatory. Consent can be withdrawn at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
Automated traffic — crawlers, scanners and bots — is identified and marked so it can be excluded from reporting. Traffic from certain geographic regions may also be excluded from analytics.
Session, pageview and click records are retained for 24 months and then deleted. Resolved geolocation results are cached against the IP for the same period. The _vtid cookie expires in your browser after 365 days.
In a database on the same hosting infrastructure that serves this site, reachable only by the site operator's own systems. It is not shared with any third party other than the IP geolocation services named above.
You may request access to the data held about you, correction of it, or its deletion. Email alex@alexcarbor.com; requests are answered within 30 days. Because records are keyed to a random cookie identifier rather than to your identity, please include the _vtid value from your browser so the right records can be found.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Doing so deletes the _vtid cookie and stops all further collection; no site functionality is lost.
This site is a professional services site and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.
This policy may be updated. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
